Bridgestone Motorsport

Bridgestone supply tyres to the world of motorsport from Formula 1, GP2 and Moto GP to Champ Car and Indy Racing. We worked with Bridgestone to design and develop their motorsport web site, providing up to the date news and results for motorsport fans all over the world.

The site conveys the latest results and news on races, as well as providing inside information which is unique to Bridgestone. The website content is updated daily by motorsport journalists all over the world, so needs a Content Management System (CMS) that is robust and easy to use.

We developed a website based on the Microsoft Content Management Server platform that complemented the Bridgestone brand, whilst promoting each individual motorsport championship with distinct areas for Formula 1, GP2, Moto GP, Indy Racing and Champ Car. CMS templates were created that enabled Bridgestone journalists to update the content easily via its WYSIWYG editor, without the need for any knowledge of HTML.

The race results data is requested from Bridgestone Japan on a per-demand basis using a ‘SOAP-less light web service’. The results are requested via HTTP, with an XML stream being returned and then formatted to appear on the web site.

The website design and development took less than 3 months and was launched in early 2006 in time for the motorsport season.

Since it's launch the site has shown a 100% increase in web site traffic month on month when compared with previous year and Interakting has worked closely with Bridgestone to add new features to the site including competitions, screensavers and a weekly podcast.
